Confirm Canadian billing and local install coverage in writing before you sign.<\/li>\n<li>Commission-free direct ordering is the biggest single line item in this decision, and it only works if the ordering link is where your customers already look for you: your Google profile.<\/li>\n<li>Best fit for a <strong>Canadian single-location Chinese or pan-Asian restaurant that wants one vendor and local support: Snappy<\/strong>. When Ontario capped delivery-app fees for restaurants during indoor-dining closures, effective December 19, 2020, the law required the largest apps &#8220;to limit the rates they charge to 20 per cent for each transaction, with no more than 15 per cent for commission for food delivery services&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.restobiz.ca\/ontario-food-delivery-cap-begins\/\">Restobiz<\/a>). Nobody legislates a ceiling the market is already under. In Saskatchewan, one owner who closed his restaurant told CBC the apps were &#8220;taking 25 to 30 per cent of a restaurant&#8217;s gross revenue,&#8221; which is his experience rather than a provincial average, but it matches the trade-press range (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/saskatchewan\/saskatchewan-restaurants-cap-on-food-delivery-apps-1.5926797\">CBC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Now put your own numbers in. Take a restaurant that does $20,000 a month through marketplace apps as a working assumption. At a 20 per cent commission, that is $20,000 \u00d7 0.20 = <strong>$4,000 a month, or $48,000 a year<\/strong>, before packaging, before the menu markups some apps apply, and before the processing fee.<\/p>\n<p>Move half of those orders to a commission-free channel and the recovered margin is half of that: <strong>$2,000 a month, or $24,000 a year<\/strong>.
