There are 244,631 restaurants in the state of Florida according to Google’s data. The most popular restaurant categories (in no particular order) in Florida include: General Restaurant, Italian, Coffee shop, Chicken, Mexican, Pizza and American.
With population of 22.61 million in 2023 according to US Census Bureau, there are 10.8 restaurants per 1000 residents in Florida.
Top five cities with most restaurants in Florida include Miami (21,063), Orlando (13,272), Jacksonville (9,798), Tampa (9,323) and Fort Lauderdale (5,467).
Florida’s most popular cuisine is Mexican with 15.9k restaurants, followed up American (8.3k), Chinese (7.2k), Italian (6.7k) and Japanese (3.2k). There are also over 2.5k Cuban restaurants in the state of Florida.
Florida restaurants have an average customer rating of 3.9/5 on Google. Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale have the highest average customer rating of 4/5 in the state of Florida.
There were 778 new permanently closed restaurants in Florida in Q3 with more than 20% of the closures occurring in either Miami or Boca Raton areas.
